This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Ching Cafe (“Ching Cafe”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use our website, order food through WhatsApp, contact us or write a review – why we collect it, who sees it, how long we keep it and how you can ask us to correct or delete it. We follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”).
1. Who is responsible for your data
Ching Cafe, Near Petrol Pump, Baijnath, Mandi–Pathankot NH Road, Distt. Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, is the “Data Fiduciary” for the personal data described here. You can reach us at +91 94189 41707 or on WhatsApp at +919418941707. Our Grievance Officer’s details are at the end of this policy.
2. What we collect
- When you order: your name, phone number, delivery address and landmark, the dishes you choose, cooking or delivery notes and – only if you tap “Share my current location” – your approximate GPS location as a Google Maps link.
- When you use the contact form: your name, phone number, email address, subject and message.
- When you write a review: your name, city (optional), star rating and review text. Reviews are published on our website for everyone to read. To stop spam we also store a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of your IP address – not the address itself.
- On your own device: your cart and the delivery details you typed are saved in your browser’s local storage so you don’t have to type them again. This stays on your phone or computer and is not sent to our server.
- Technical data: like any website, our hosting server may log your IP address, browser type and the pages you open, for security and to keep the site running.
We do not collect card, UPI or bank details on the website. Orders are paid by Cash on Delivery.
3. Why we use it
- To prepare, confirm and deliver your order and to call or message you about it.
- To reply to your questions, feedback, party or bulk-order enquiries.
- To show genuine customer reviews and to block spam or abuse.
- To handle complaints, cancellations and refunds, and to meet our legal and tax obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not send you promotional messages unless you ask us to.
4. Your consent
When you send an order, message or review, you agree to us using the data you give us for the purposes above. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it, but we may not be able to complete an order that is in progress.
5. Who sees your data
- WhatsApp (Meta Platforms): orders and contact-form messages are sent from your phone to our WhatsApp number. WhatsApp’s own privacy policy applies to messages on its service.
- Google: the map on our website is provided by Google Maps and our fonts by Google Fonts. When these load, Google may receive your IP address and set its own cookies. If you share your location, the order contains a Google Maps link.
- Our staff and delivery person: they see your name, phone number and address only to prepare and deliver your order.
- Our website hosting provider, which stores the website and reviews on our behalf.
- Government or law-enforcement authorities, only when the law requires it.
6. How long we keep it
- Order details and WhatsApp chats: up to 12 months, so we can handle complaints, refunds and accounts. After that we delete them, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.
- Contact messages: until your enquiry is resolved, and at most up to 12 months.
- Reviews: until you ask us to remove them or we take them down. A maximum of 80 reviews is accepted on the website.
- Your browser’s saved cart and details: until you place the order, clear your cart or clear your browser data.
7. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data of yours we hold and how we use it;
- correct, complete or update it;
- erase it when it is no longer needed (for example, delete your review or your order chat);
- nominate another person to exercise these rights if you are unable to; and
- handle your grievance about how we use your data.
To make a request, message or call us using the details below and tell us your name and phone number so we can find your data. We will reply as soon as possible and within 30 days at the latest. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
8. Children
Our website is meant for adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to place the order or write a review for you.
9. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data: the website uses secure settings, reviews are stored on a protected server, and WhatsApp messages are end-to-end encrypted. No online system is 100% secure, so please do not send sensitive information (such as bank details) through the forms.
10. Cookies and browser storage
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The website only uses your browser’s local storage to remember your cart, checkout details and whether you have closed the cookie notice. Google Maps and Google Fonts may set their own cookies. If we add analytics or advertising tools in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.
